RALEIGH, N.C. (April 12, 2025) – More than 800 prospective students saw and learned about all that Wake Tech has to offer at Open House on Saturday.
The annual spring event, which also attracted hundreds of family members, was held at two locations: Scott Northern Wake Campus and Perry Health Sciences Campus, near WakeMed.
Attendees walked the campus on guided tours, explored state-of-the-art classrooms and labs and learned about academic programs and support services. Admissions and Financial Aid staff helped prospective students apply for Summer and Fall enrollment and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Cameron McNeil, a high school senior at Granville Central High School, was all smiles as he explored the Scott Northern Wake Campus with his mother and brother.
"Today is my first time on campus, and I love it," he said. "I want to get my associate degree in electrical engineering and then transfer to get my bachelor's degree. I'm starting at Wake Tech because it's more affordable and I can get real college experience before going to a university."
Shenita Smith brought her daughter, Jalia, from Goldsboro to learn more about studying graphic design. She said Wake Tech was more than she expected, and she was very impressed with all they saw and learned.
"The faculty, staff and the students on the tour that we spoke to were so kind and helpful and made us feel like we belong, and that makes you feel good as you are trying to make this important decision," she said.
Open House kicked off the start of Summer and Fall enrollment. Now's the time for new students to apply for admission. Registration for classes starts Thursday for new students.
In addition to degree programs, Wake Tech offers non-degree accelerated training to prepare students with skills to immediately enter the workforce. The college is offering an opportunity to learn about these programs during a Virtual Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. April 23.
Wake Tech is North Carolina's largest community college, serving more than 72,000 students annually at nine locations across Wake County and dozens of fully online programs. With programs designed for those seeking to grow in their career or transfer to a university, Wake Tech offers pathways to success for everyone.
