This course prepares graduates to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and other adults. Emphasis is on the aging process, including mental, social and physical needs of the elderly; patient's rights; nutrition management; elimination procedures; safe environment; restorative services; personal and special care procedures and activities; human body structure and function and related common disease/disorders; communication and documentation; death and dying; and roles of the nurse aide and health team members. A skill competency evaluation is required. The course includes class, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and skill competency evaluation administered by Credentia, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide I by DHSR - N.C. Division of Facility Services

Prior to the first day of class, students must pay ($119.00 in addition to class tuition), for the medical documentation manager through Castle Branch: https://portal.castlebranch.com/WL15.
Prior to the first day of class, students should have submitted the background and drug screen. (Issued by Castle Branch).
Students should begin obtaining all mandatory paperwork/immunizations noted by Castle branch. (Failure to have all mandatory paperwork completed by the due date noted in the class schedule, will result in dismissal from the program without the ability of a refund).
Castle Branch instructions: Go to website: https://portal.castlebranch.com/WL15. Select: Nurse Aide. Order Package Code: WM83-background, drug, and medical documentation (very important to choose this code). *Note, this is a onetime cost of $119.00*. This site will house all of the mandatory paperwork/immunizations etc. submitted by you. These immunizations can be updated annually. *Begin Drug and Background screening prior to course entrance.
Begin uploading mandatory documents. *Please note that if the class attends Wake Med or Duke hospital for clinicals, an additional cost may be needed for the clinical site's "Rotation Manager".
The Nursing Division Advisory Committee meets regularly for discussion regarding the Nurse Aide program needs.
