RALEIGH, N.C. (March 12, 2025) – Wake Tech students and recent alumni added etiquette to their toolbelts thanks to a special luncheon hosted by Career Services.
Led by Career Coach Sandra Kamholz, students and alumni learned the do's and don'ts of dining with business professionals while enjoying a delicious three-course meal in Wake Tech's student-operated Flavors restaurant on the Southern Wake Campus.
"It was such a fun afternoon providing students with the right ingredients to shine at their next outing," said Kamholz. "We are excited that this partnership with Wake Tech's culinary team allows students to not only enjoy a great meal but learn tips to succeed at future dining events."
Fifteen participants learned key skills and tips for dining confidently at networking events, job interviews and with co-workers. Kamholz talked about proper table manners, seating arrangements, meal ordering, dress and grooming standards, effective communication and how to handle the bill. And then participants had the opportunity to practice presenting their best selves while dining.
Ashutosh Modi, an Associate in Science student, said he was unfamiliar with proper etiquette techniques and attended to learn new and unique skills.
"These tools will be helpful. You never know when you are going to get invited to a fine-dining event. You need to be ready," he said.
Students who missed the first etiquette luncheon have another opportunity to join Kamholz on April 8 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Flavors. Space is limited, and students should register in Handshake.
