New Board Leadership Team is Announced

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 25, 2020) - Wake Tech Community College is pleased to announce that trustee Jamie Thomas has been elected chair of the Wake Tech Board of Trustees and trustee Kellie Falk has been elected vice chair.

Thomas was appointed to the Wake Tech Board in 2018 by the Wake County Board of Education, and has been serving in a leadership capacity as chair of the Strategic Initiatives and Student Success committee. She is General Manager for Strategy & Development at IBM, responsible for development and client experience for IBM's Quantum, POWER, Mainframe and Storage Offerings. Thomas sets and executes the innovation plans required to support clients worldwide. During her tenure at IBM, she has held various product development and brand leadership roles.

Falk was appointed to the Wake Tech Board in 2017 by Governor Roy Cooper, and has been serving in a leadership role as chair of the Finance, Infrastructure and Audit committee. She is a Principal and Managing Director of Drucker + Falk, a family-owned fee management real estate management company. The company manages about 39,000 multifamily homes and three-million square feet of commercial space. Falk is a licensed real estate broker in five states and shares her talents on numerous real estate and housing boards.

Thomas and Falk were elected to lead the Board as three new trustees were sworn in: Cheetie Kumar, Walter Davenport, and Juan Torres.

Wake Tech is served by 12 trustees, all of whom are appointed: four by the governor, four by the Wake County Board of Commissioners, and four by the Wake County Board of Education. Trustees serve four-year terms. An ex-officio student representative (usually the president of Wake Tech’s Student Government Association) also serves on the board.

Trustees establish policy for Wake Tech, approve the annual budget, and serve as advocates for the college and its services.
