Baking Students Showcase Sweet Skills

RALEIGH, N.C. (December 5, 2024) – It's the most wonderful time of the year to purchase homemade goodies at Wake Tech.

The college hosted Bakers' Row on Thursday at Scott Northern Wake Campus. The popular event happens twice a year and always attracts a huge crowd. Students sold sweet and savory treats, European cakes and delicious fresh bread.

Students made the baked goodies from scratch. Shoppers filled their bags with a variety of hand-crafted items, including croissants, quiche, pizza focaccia bread, cookies, cakes, brownies and banana pudding.

"Students work really hard preparing delicious baked goods for Bakers' Row, and they went above and beyond this semester," said Chef Caralyn House, Baking & Pastry Arts senior professor and program director. "Students practice what they have learned in class and in the kitchen, and they also learn valuable business skills. Thank you to everyone who purchased something yummy to eat over the holiday!"

Bakers' Row is an end-of-year project for students in the Baking & Pastry Arts AAS degree program, which prepares aspiring bakers for entry into the industry as pastry chefs, cake designers and bakery managers.
