Wake Tech Launches New Emergency Alert System
PUBLIC INVITED TO SIGN UP FOR ALERTS
RALEIGH, N.C. (September 19, 2013) - Wake Tech Community College is launching a new emergency notification system called Wake Tech WARN. The system will send voice, text and email alerts in the event of a campus emergency, safety hazard or inclement weather situation. Wake Tech employees and degree-seeking students are automatically registered for Wake Tech WARN via their email addresses. They’re encouraged to add additional email addresses and phone numbers by visiting http://warn.waketech.edu. Parents, family members, students taking non-credit classes and others in the community are also invited to sign up to stay connected to what’s happening at Wake Tech.
“Safety is top priority here at Wake Tech and we want to do all we can to keep people informed when there is a crisis or weather alert they should be aware of,” says Chief Michael Penry, Wake Tech Campus Police.
Wake Tech WARN is powered by Regroup messaging platform. It has the capability of sending 3,000 phone calls and 10,000 text and email alerts per minute. In addition to receiving college-wide messages, those who register may choose to receive campus-specific alerts. To register for Wake Tech WARN, visit http://warn.waketech.edu.
In addition to Wake Tech Warn, the college will issue important safety alerts in the following ways:
- Banner on the home page of the website
