Children's Artwork Takes Center Stage At Wake Tech
Photo Gallery
RALEIGH, N.C. (November 2, 2013) - Students in Wake Tech’s Early Childhood Education program had a chance to show off their students’ handiwork on Saturday, November 2. A Children’s Art Exhibit at the Northern Wake Campus featured artwork by children in the classes of Wake Tech students. The Early Childhood Education program requires a practicum experience in a classroom setting.
“We wanted to highlight the importance of art in children’s lives and give families an opportunity to experience art with their children,” says Department Head Karen Ray. “The event also allowed our Early Childhood students to participate in planning and implementing a community activity for children and families.”
The event, sponsored by PNC, included music along with the children’s artwork, which was inspired by the “Pete the Cat” children’s book series. More than 150 people attended, including students from 18 early childhood programs across Wake County.
Wake Tech’s Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and offers degree, diploma and certificate options. http://earlychildhoodedu.waketech.edu
