RALEIGH, N.C. (April 15, 2014) - Wake Tech star forward Joshua Mellette has been recognized as a first team pick for the NJCAA DII men’s basketball team All American Award. The 6’ 5” sophomore, ranked first in the Region X Conference for blocks and rebounds per game, was named the Region X Player of the Year. Mellette helped lead the Wake Tech Eagles to the NJCAA national championship tournament for the first time in the program’s history. The team finished fourth in the nation!
“We had a great basketball team this year, and Josh has been extraordinary!” says Wake Tech Athletics Director Barry Street. “We’re extremely proud of all our student athletes – they’re not only talented, but totally committed to giving nothing less than their absolute best.”
Mellette came to Wake Tech as a freshman after graduating from Southern Lee High School in Sanford in 2012. He will graduate with an Associate in Arts degree in May and is being recruited by several top universities. Wake Tech started its competitive basketball program five years ago.
