Wake Tech Names Executive Vice President
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 5, 2015) - Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Tech Community College, has named Dr. Gayle Greene Executive Vice President, the second-highest leadership post at the college. As Executive Vice President, Greene will help President Scott carry out Wake Tech’s mission and make sure institutional goals are met. Dr. Greene will also supervise Wake Tech’s senior administrative staff and campus police force. She replaces Gerald Mitchell, who retired January 31.
"The chief role of the executive vice president is to ensure that the college operates efficiently while upholding all local, state, and federal regulations,” says Dr. Greene. “Wake Tech has an excellent reputation, and the people of Wake County have demonstrated their trust in us. That trust is a precious gift that we honor and must continually strive to protect.”
Prior to this appointment, Greene served as Senior Vice President of Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus. She supervised the opening of the campus in 2007 and its rapid expansion, managing student enrollment that has more than doubled since then and leading faculty and staff. Greene also directed the college’s leadership development program.
“Dr. Greene has been a trusted and valuable part of Wake Tech leadership since her arrival here,” says Dr. Scott. “She is always a step ahead, combining vision and innovative ideas with her expansive knowledge of this institution and of higher education. I know she will be an even greater asset in this important role.”
Dr. Greene joined Wake Tech in 2002 as Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Before that, she chaired the Humanities and Arts Division at Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC, where she earned the rank of Associate Professor of English and Religion and later served as Vice President of Student Life. She holds a Doctor of Education from NC State University, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, and a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University in Macon, GA.
