Prerequisite Math provides students with the math skills required for success in a variety of curriculum courses, including math, science, culinary and trade courses, to name a few.

Students needing MAT-003 take a one-semester prerequisite course that helps prepare them for their gateway-level math course.

MAT-003 Transition Math

This course provides an opportunity to customize foundational math content in specific math areas and will include developing a growth mindset. Topics include developing the academic habits, learning strategies, social skills and the growth mindset necessary to be successful in mathematics. Students build skills through a variety of instructional strategies, with emphasis placed on the most essential prerequisite knowledge. Upon completion, students should have a stronger foundation for success in their gateway-level math courses.
