Provost Named Fulbright Scholar
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 6, 2024) – Wake Tech is proud to announce Dr. Keith Babuszczak, provost for IT Programs and the RTP Campus, has been selected as a 2024-25 Fulbright U.S. Scholar for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Program to India.
Fulbright Scholar Awards are competitive fellowships that provide unique opportunities for scholars to teach and conduct research abroad. Fulbright Scholars also play a critical role in U.S. public diplomacy, establishing long-term relationships between people and nations.
Babuszczak joins a distinguished group of faculty and administrators who will travel to India March 8-24 to visit colleges and universities in and around Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, as well as participate in cultural excursions and presentations.
He says he is excited for the opportunity to learn about the country's higher education systems.
"Wake Tech serves a diverse student body, and many of our industry partners have a strong presence in India," he said. "Wake Tech's RTP Campus in Morrisville is an anchor of the community, and people of Indian descent make up over a third of the town's population, so I especially want to use this trip to learn more about Indian life and culture."
Babuszczak hopes to use what he learns on the trip to help develop international seminars, increase global perspective within the IT curriculum and host joint events with Indian students and institutions.
"We're very proud of Keith and thankful to have his great leadership at Wake Tech," said Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls. "This opportunity to visit and study in India is a great opportunity for both him and Wake Tech."
Fulbright Scholars are selected based on academic and professional achievement, record of service and leadership in their respective fields.
Babuszczak, an Eagle Scout, holds a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He earned a master's degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri and a doctorate in Education from Sage College in Albany, N.Y.
He is Wake Tech's third Fulbright Scholar. Princess Solomon, director of International Services & Admissions Records, was selected for the program in 2019. Santrell Caison, dean of Admissions and Outreach, was named a Fulbright Scholar in 2011.
Alumni of the Fulbright Program include 62 Nobel Laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, 80 MacArthur Fellows and thousands of leaders and world-renowned experts in academia and many other fields across the private, public and nonprofit sectors.
