RALEIGH, N.C. (May 2, 2023) – Students in Wake Tech's Baking & Pastry Arts degree program showcased their skills today at Bakers' Row. The popular event takes place twice a year at Scott Northern Wake Campus and includes sweet and savory treats, European cakes and fresh bread.
Some customers ordered goodies in advance and picked them up; others purchased treats in person.
Students made the baked goodies from scratch. They sold everything from savory ham-and-cheese croissants, quiche, pizza focaccia bread and puff pastry cheese straws to tarts, cakes, cookies, eclairs and brownies.
The event was a huge success!
"I am so proud of our students," said Chef Caralyn House, Baking & Pastry Arts senior professor and program director. "They baked some delicious treats and sold out of almost everything. Thank you to everyone who purchased something yummy to eat!"
Bakers' Row is an end-of-year project for students in the Baking & Pastry Arts program, which awards Associate in Applied Science degrees and prepares aspiring bakers for entry into the industry as pastry chefs, cake designers and bakery managers.
