Event Description: Jalen Jackson is a visual artist whose paintings explore African American culture, memories, and experiences in his life. His paintings depict flashbacks of growing up as a son of a single mother and childhood memories, with the goal of creating a sense of nostalgia while giving a representation of Black soul for whomever interacts with his works. Jackson received his BFA in Visual Arts from NC A&T State University and is based in Durham, NC.

Led by director Brandon Mitchell, come enjoy a live performance and open discussion of tunes that are foundational to the genre. Students can engage learn a history of jazz music as well as time with the instrumentalist about their instrument expertise as well as their experiences and opportunities through music.
