College Welcomes New Leader for Entrepreneurship
RALEIGH, N.C. (August 23, 2022) – Wake Tech is pleased to welcome Chris Weeks as its new director of entrepreneurship. In that role, Weeks is responsible for entrepreneurial education and training programs for the college, as well as for the Wake County small-business community.
Weeks works collaboratively to manage an entire "ecosystem" of entrepreneurship programming at Wake Tech designed to support new and existing small businesses and help them grow. Those programs include StartUp at Wake Tech, LaunchWakeCounty, the Main Street Entrepreneurs Accelerator (MSEA) program and the Pop-Up Shops at Martin Street, along with a host of other collaborative efforts throughout the college and the community.
"I'm honored to be a part of building this magnificent entrepreneurship system," Weeks says. "We want to provide everything entrepreneurs and small-business owners need – both here at the college and throughout the county – to succeed."
Before arriving at Wake Tech, Weeks spent more than 20 years running an entertainment company that managed hip-hop entrepreneurs in film, television and publishing. From day-to-day management to running boutique labels, he helped many artists transition into the digital age. He also helped to create a dozen entertainment-related companies.
A native of Connecticut, Weeks was raised in and around New York City. He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 2nd/325th Airborne Infantry, at Fort Bragg and earned his bachelor's degree in political science from North Carolina Central University. He earned a master's degree in Adult Education from East Carolina University and says he is a proud Pirate.
