Cosmetology and Esthetics Students Showcase Hair and Makeup Talents

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 3, 2022) – From Disney characters to Candy Land, Wake Tech cosmetology and esthetics students showcased their creative hair and makeup talents Thursday during their student project showcase.

Students spent the past few weeks designing their manikins based on their chosen theme, and on Thursday, they waited in anticipation as industry judges from local hair and makeup studios evaluated their displays.

Out of the 87 students who participated, 12 cosmetology students and five esthetics students will carry their projects to upcoming SkillsUSA North Carolina competitions. Wake Tech is hosting this year's SkillsUSA NC esthetics competition on April 12, and cosmetology students will compete in Greensboro on April 28.

"We are so proud of the originality and attention to detail our students showed in these awesome hair and makeup displays," said Paula Askew, program head of cosmetology. "You can really tell they put a lot of thought and creativity into it while showing their skills and talents."

Wake Tech offers an associate in applied science degree and a diploma in cosmetology and a certificate in esthetics technology. Learn more at cosmetology.waketech.edu and esthetics.waketech.edu.
