The City of Raleigh is hiring Community Climate Interns. Applicants who live, work, or attend college or university in the Raleigh and/or Triangle Region are preferred. Young adults of color and those that are under-represented in the field of sustainability are encouraged to apply.
The Community Climate Intern Program is a partnership between Partnership Raleigh and the City of Raleigh Office of Sustainability. The Office of Sustainability is working with the community on a Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, understanding the role of equity and the implications of climate change on vulnerable communities, and how the impacts of climate change affect overall community resiliency. Recognizing these challenges, in May 2019 the Raleigh City Council established a goal to reduce community GHG emissions in Raleigh by 80% by the year 2050. The CCAP lays out a process toward that goal, and the internship program is an opportunity for young adults to engage on projects and with departments in support of this work.
