This course offers an overview of North Carolina's building regulation system for building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire prevention code enforcement officials. It includes the structure of federal, state, and local governments; history of the NC Building Code; relevant NC statutes; and the enforcement responsibilities of local inspection departments. Course standards are set by the NC Code Officials Qualification Board and administered by the Engineering and Codes Division of the NC Department of Insurance/Office of State Fire Marshal.
