This course continues instruction for work as an Electrical Apprentice at new construction sites and on remodeling and renovation projects. The course completes the series by providing more advanced concepts and elaborating on information discussed in Levels 1, 2, and 3. Topics discussed will include areas such as electrical system load calculations for feeders and services, electrical requirements for health care facilities, standby and emergency power systems, basics of electronics theory, fire alarm systems, and specialty transformers and their appropriate use. Students will also be trained in the use of advanced controls, HVAC controls, heat tracing and freeze protection systems, motor operation and maintenance, medium-voltage terminations and splices, electrical requirements for specialized locations, and fundamentals of crew leadership. Electrical Apprenticeship Level 4 is the final course in the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for Electrical Apprenticeship.
