Sponsored Programs partners with leaders across the college to raise funds in the form of grants and appropriations from federal, state and local governments, as well as foundations, to foster innovation and address unmet needs of the college. The Sponsored Programs team also provides grant management and compliance support to ensure the college achieves maximum impact from sponsored programs in support of student success. Wake Tech was awarded more than $12.47 million in grants and appropriations in 2020-21, with 16 of its 17 submitted public and private competitive grant proposals receiving funding, and seven submittals pending. Additionally, the college was allocated more than $63.5 million in federal grant funds to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, of which the Sponsored Programs staff provided administration and compliance oversight. In an effort to further diversify the college's funding portfolio, the Sponsored Programs team also led the proposal development for the Amazon Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship Program training contract (awarded) and proposals for federal community project funds (pending).
