With a growing number of classes meeting virtually at least some of the time, if not entirely online, every Wake Tech student needs a computer more than ever. The Care Center can provide laptops to qualified students who don't have one so they can attend classes virtually, complete their assignments and access college services online.
Wake Tech also offers students in degree, diploma and certificate programs funds to purchase textbooks, course packets and other resource materials required for courses.
Eligibility requirements
Degree students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours at Wake Tech during the semester of the request for assistance. Non-degree students must be enrolled in a Wake Tech program that includes at least 96 contact hours during the semester of the request for assistance.
For assistance with course materials, students in degree programs also must have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher, have opted out of Eagle Advantage and demonstrate financial need.
Applications are approved depending on the availability of resources. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee approval of your application. Funding guidelines are subject to change.
Library Services also has laptops available to loan out to enrolled students who do not qualify to receive a laptop otherwise.
On Southern Wake and Scott Northern Wake campuses, students can use their Wake Tech IDs to check out laptops through self-service kiosks located in the libraries. Each kiosk has 12 laptops that can be checked out for up to five hours for on-campus use only.
Libraries on all other campuses have laptops that students can check out for up to 24 hours.
