More than 30 educators from across North Carolina converged on Wake Technical Community College this week for specialized training to enhance their instructional skills for IT courses. The Oracle Academy Instructors' Institute is the first on-site training of its kind to be offered in North Carolina.

For the second consecutive year, Wake Technical Community College has been named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The Chronicle is a nationwide publication featuring news and information about higher education.

Wake Technical Community College president Stephen Scott is pleased to announce that Carol Cutler-White has been named Dean of Sponsored Programs and Federal Relations. Cutler-White has served as Director of Sponsored Programs, Grants and Articulation at Wake Tech since 2007.

Biotech students and graduates from across North Carolina got vital hands-on experience at a "boot camp" for biomanufacturing. Wake Technical Community College and NCCCS BioNetwork presented the unique, week-long training session in collaboration with NC State University. It took place at the Capstone Center on NC State's Centennial Campus in Raleigh.

Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Technical Community College, is pleased to announce the appointment of Arthur Andrews as Vice President of Financial and Business Services for Wake Tech. Andrews, a former community college controller and state auditor, will manage the $100 million budget of North Carolina's second largest community college.

Wake Technical Community College graduated the largest class in its history today at the Raleigh Convention Center. More than 1,300 graduates, about 28% more than last year, received degrees and diplomas. That's 28% more graduates than last year. More than 500 graduates participated in the ceremony.

Local emergency responders saw some heart-stopping action on Saturday - collisions, overturned vehicles, and trapped passengers needing rescue. Fortunately, it was all an exercise, part of an intensive day of hands-on training Wake Technical Community College held for fire and rescue personnel in Raleigh on June 19. 

Wake Technical Community College is rolling out a degree program this fall that will help Triangle workers and businesses that transport products around the world.

Wake Tech golfer Scott Colley will transfer and play golf at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke this fall. A star player on the inaugural Wake Tech golf team, Colley tied for 6th place in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 Championship in Huntsville, Alabama in May. He also earned second-team All-American, a first for any Wake Tech athlete.
