COVID-19 Protocols for Reporting Positive Employee Cases


  • Reports positive report through [email protected]
  • Will remain at home until contacted by a contact tracer
  • Notifies supervisor


  • Notifies leadership, including directors, deans, provosts and/or chief campus officers

HR-Contact Tracer

  • Receives notification of a positive test result
  • Contacts the employee to provide guidance. Tracers will use current CDC and N.C. Department of Health and Human Services guidance to determine the isolation time frame. Supervisors are copied on emails
  • Contacts the close contacts to determine their vaccination status
  • Notifies the supervisor of the employee’s status. Tracers will follow the college’s COVID-19 Campus Exposure Procedure based on CDC and DHHS recommendations.
  • Notifies the supervisor of any close contacts who must remain home per current guidelines
  • Follows up with the employee on the fifth day of isolation or quarantine. If the employee (or direct contact) meets the CDC’s and DHHS' requirements to return, they are released back to campus
  • Notifies the supervisor that the employee has been released to return to campus or if they must remain off campus
  • Coordinates sanitization of spaces if needed
